Objective for creating and applying divisional identifiers
Identifiers for each Goldman Sachs division have been created to ensure the Global Investment Research (GIR) product is clearly differentiated from research-like content produced by other areas of the firm.
As a result of the firm’s Business Standards Committee review, compliance and regulatory considerations, the following further rules apply:
- GIR is the only division permitted to use the term “Research” to describe a written product, desk or business unit.
- On all branded communications, all divisions must include in a prominent location a label clearly identifying the originating division (e.g. “Research” or “Asset Management”).
- The GSAM, IBD, PWM and Securities divisions must institute controls to prevent branded materials and business/product names from appearing to be too similar to GIR materials, names, etc.
- To further enable GIR communications to stand out, they will use only one color scheme (blue).
